CHRISTMAS, BEARS AND A MESSY......

well, I think that title tells it all.  My National Day Calendar Quilt is in the hoop, but at this time it is a catch all for everything., I can't tie this quilt until I clean up the area.

The pile of Blue blocks you see on the right is my Polar Bears.  I've started putting them together and hopefully I'll have a filmsey by the end of today.  All the Polar Bear and Friends quilt was made with scraps...I did buy some blue for the blocks, The seal, snowman and walrus are on the new fabric.

I've decided to get my Christmas Sampler out and work on it.  I would like to have it finished by Christmas this year.  I still need a few more blocks before I can put it together.  Head over to  Cynthia's place to check out all the folks working with scraps.

So these are my Slow Sunday Stitching projects for today.  Head over to Kathy's place to check out what everyone is stitching on today. The same goes for my Christmas Sample, it is made with my scraps....but I'm getting low on Christmas fabric, I may have to buy some to finish the quilt.

Well, that's it for today....have an awesome sewing.....

PLANNING.......

does not always goes as planned.  I was going to sandwich the National Day Calendar quilt this week, but as usual I got sidetracked.  So it's at the top of my list of things to do today.  This is also my OMG project for January.

What I'm stitching on today for Slow Sunday Stitching is the Polar Bear blocks....they have been appliqued down and now I'm putting all the embroidery on them...

Are you doing the Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop?  My day to post about mine is January 27th.  I've got 5 blocks finished.

I made a few more Tiny Tiles,  they go together pretty fast.  But it's going to take a lot of them!  These are for Scarp Happy.

I finally made up my mind for the RSC 2022, I'm doing bird houses.  This will be the first one, red of course.  I'll be cutting my fabric for this today.

Hope you all have an awesome....

WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO......

It's been a few days since I posted anything.  But I don't want to bore you all to death with the same thing all the time.  I hit a snag in Alexis's quilt...I'll have to get Mr. Seam Ripper out.  Last night I cut and pinned the last 2 baskets for my RSC 2021.  A dark brown and a black one.

I did a block for my Christmas Sampler...I really like this on, it's so cute.

And I put a few more stitches in my Band Sampler.  I finished the orange row of Sheaf Stitch and put the word July on.

That's it for now...I'm linking up with...hop over and check everyone's Slow Stitching.

STITCHING TIME..........

Over at Kathy's place, it's Sunday Stitching.  So I'll be stitching today, maybe outside, the sun is shining and the temps are coming up.  It was 49 this morning when I got up.  Just a little to chilly for me.    And what will I be stitching on.  Well, I have a couple projects to work on.😀

I've got to cut some more strips to put on the border of the Candy Hearts.

I also added a couple for Tiny Tiles to the pile.

I've been working on Alexis's quilt.  When I make a new quilt, I always cut to may pieces, so Alexis's quilt is made with all my extra pieces...I had a heart left over from the Candy Hearts.  So I cut around it....don't worry, the fabric I cut around it goes into my scrap bag, so I decided to put a little embroidery around it.

As for today, I'll be stitching on my Band Sample...I'm using it like a journal of everything that has happened here for 2021.  I've got up to June...now onto July.  That's what I'm working on today.

Hope you all have a great stitching

MAKING PROGRESS......

I got all the green RSC blocks done, and have one more orange one to finish.  This was my RSC 2020.

You can see my post about HERE.  This is for my bed and this is what I have done so far...

I looks like it's done....but the side by the wall needs a few more rows done.  And of course, when the blocks are finished that I'm working on...I'll have to embellish them.

I made a trip to Hobby Lobby yesterday...I was completely out of black embroidery floss.....now I can finish the embroidery on my Candy Hearts Quilt.  I also bought some muslin and some other stuff I didn't really need...sewing notions are a thing for me...I think I need it all!😄

I've already got all the blocks done, just have to put the words on the hearts.

So I've got 2 projects to work on tonight while watching t.v.  Which one to do...

STITCHING AND T.V.......

What do you do while your stitching away...watch t.v., videos, listen to music.  I watch t.v. on my computer...I subscribe to several streaming services...I hate watching commercials!  I was working on my Candy Hearts, but ran out of black embroidery floss.

So I picked up my Tiny Tiles and worked on them.  I've been pulling out some of my scraps of Novelty Fabric to use on these.

I also got my RSC Basket done...Orange.

I got 2 quilts sandwiched and one is in the hoop.

Salt and Sand is in the hoop.

And the Orange Quilt is waiting it's turn to be tied.

STITCHING........

I've been stitching my Candy Hearts.  They start like this...I pin them down and do needle turn applique.

Then the heart is ready for the words.  Which I hand embroider.

Once I have 5 of them done...I put the dark blue strip on and do it all over again.

I've also been working on my tiny tiles.  I get a lot of little scraps when I'm working on my String Quilt.  so I'm making the Tiny Tiles.  The fabric s what ever I have, which is either unbleached Muslin or Bleached Muslin.  I cut the squares 4 1/2" and start sewing the shapes down.  That's what I will be working on today, the Candy Hearts and the Tiny Tiles.

SUNDAY ALREADY!

Where did the week go?  I've been working on my "squirrel" project I started last week.  Did you eat Candy Hearts when you were a kid?  I did, one of my favorites.  I decided I'd make some.  So to the drawing board.  I have 3 yards of  a red check fabric.  So I got all my colors thought out and started making hearts.  I also went looking for the sayings on Candy Hearts.  Google is an awesome resource when looking for something.  I've got the first row done...yea.

So that's what I've been working on this week.  I got out my Band Sampler and did some stitching on it.

This is where I was last time I worked on it.  I wanted something else at the top with the year...so went looking for some inspiration yesterday.  So I headed over to Mary Corbet's place, Needle N' Thread.  She has a challenge going for the year.  You can read about it HERE.  Of course it's a Band Sampler Challenge.  So I've been working on mine off and on...mostly off...yesterday I wanted to put something at the top and Mary had a great idea for hers.

I put some swirls around the year using a Cable Chain Stitch.  I think it still needs something else.  Maybe some French Knots or Bullion Knots.  I'll have to think about this a while.  Plus I need to add June, July, and August info on here.  I'm kind of using this as a monthly journal of happenings here.  So I'll be working on this today as my Slow Sunday Stitching.  Which is hosted over at Kathy's place.  Head over and check out what everyone is working on.

I'm also linking up with Life in Pieces for 15 Minutes to Stitch.

Hope you have a great stitching....

STITCHING AWAY.....

I've started a new quilt....as if I need a another new project!  I'm making Candy Hearts...you remember those little candy hearts in a box?  They were one of my favorite candies when I was a little girl.  Want to know more about candy hearts...CLICK HERE.

So I'm making hearts.  I knew I wanted them similar to these colors.  So went digging around in my fabrics and pulled out some colors I liked.  But what fabric to put them on.  I recently purchased 3 yards of what I call red gingham.  Not sure if that's what it is, but I like it!

I've went on line and googled candy hearts...got some of the sayings on them. I'll be embroidering the sayings onto my hearts.  These are 8 1/2" blocks.  The rows will have a sashing between them...not sure what color...I'll have to think about that one.  I've got 2 of the hearts sewed down.

I've also been working on my String Blocks.  I've got enough to put 3 rows together.

That's it for today...I'm linking up with....
