Virtual Cookie Exchange And Christmas Blog Hop Day 1

Today is my day to post my Virtual Cookie Exchange and Christmas Blog Hop...

I've decided I needed a couple more pin cushions.  So I found one on line and made one....well, I made 3.  I made one for each season.  I'll change them out on the seasonal equinox.

As we haven't hit the winter equinox yet, fall is the one on my desk with all my pins and needles stuck in it.  These pin cushions are not exactly like the ones I got on line.  Mine aren't as puffy.  I didn't have any poly-fill, so had to use quilt batting.  But I like them and that's all that matters.  These are my Christmas gifts to me.  MERRY CHRISTMAS  to me!!!!

You can make your own....just go here.

You can have your own seasonal pin cushions!

I'm sharing a recipe I make every Christmas...it's call Tomato Soup Chocolate Cake....yea I know, sounds weird...but it's really good!

Ingredients

1/2 C. Butter                                1 1/2 C. Sugar

2 Eggs                                           2 C. Flour

1/2 C. Cocoa                                1 tbsp. Baking Powder

1/4 C. Warm Tap Water                1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Tomato Soup

Preheat overn to 350 F.  Grease and flour a 9 x 13" pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar;  add eggs, beating until fluffy.  In a small bowl mix together dry ingredients, mix tomato soup and water together.  Add dry and we ingredients alternately to the butter/sugar bowl.  Bake 30 minutes and let cool before adding frosting .  I used Cream Cheese Frosting for mine.

  16. You brought back two memories for me - my grandmother having a pincushion like yours (only hers wasn't seasonal) and that tomato soup cake. I haven't had it in too many years to count!

  21. Seasonal pincushions! What a fun idea. My husband is always perplexed about the seasons, he feels the equinoxes should be the middle of the season, not the start.

  22. Never heard of tomato soup been used in cake but they put beetroot in chocolate so why not try it.
I always wonder how recipe like this get created Was it an accident or was it done as an experiment.
Look forward to baking it and trying it myself.
