MONDAY BLAHS...I DON'T THINK SO....

It's Monday again....these days, the days seem to run together.  I sometimes forget what day it is or completely loose days.   NOT going out to do shopping, going to the library or anything else....tends to me to cause me to loose days....but I'm SURE today is Monday.  And I have a couple quilts I've been working on and want to share them...first up is the Umbrella Quilt.  I have one more row to sew on, then this one will get sandwiched and binding added.

The other quilt I've been working on is my 12" Crazy Quilt...finally got the rows together....just needs put together....not really sure how to go about this, as I've never put a crazy quilt together.  Batting???? Tied???  I need some info on how to do this, anyone have any suggestions?  It would be greatly appreciated!

I've also found a couple new memes to me....WOOFA(Working on or finishing a UFO).  This is happening over at Cheryll's place Gone Stitchin'..head over and check out her place.  Here is her cute button.

The other new meme to me is....Monday Making.  This is happening over at Beth's place Love Laugh Quilt...hop over and check out Beth's place...and here is her cute button...

So what have you been working on??  Want to share?  Head over to Cheryll or Beth's place to check out everyone that's sharing the projects.

And just for fun...I'm adding a picture that I saw on the internet...they are just so cute!  Sea Otters, mom and baby.  Got a picture to share that makes you say AWWW...head over to Comedy Plus to check out what everyone is sharing.

Hope everyone has an awesome....

IT'S SUNDAY! I THOUGHT IT WAS....

 Saturday....I lost a day somewhere...oh well.  I'll catch up..ha ha

I got all my RSC 2020...the color for September is red...the blocks are finished...on to October.

The Cat/Mouse quilt for my niece is coming along.  I got the features on the mice...I really like the way they came out.

What I'm working on today is putting the Umbrella Quilt together.  I've got 2 rows on and the 3rd is pinned, just have to sew it together.  I've decided to use black binding for this quilt...I think the black will perfectly frame the umbrella's.  What do you think...let me know.

I've also been trolling the interned for fall items, pumpkins, trees, corn stalks...well you get it...I'm going to make a Fall Sampler from the blocks...I finally found a leaf I like for this tree.

Well, I guess that's it for today...hope you all have a wonderful stitching....

BOOK CLUB MEETING....FINALLY....

Went to my book club last night, after 6 months of NOT GOING...we had our meeting outside, so we were all being socially apart.  We all brought our own chairs and talked about books, what everyone has been doing and the goings on in our little town.  This weekend is the Dick Tail Run, which is everything James Dean,  so there are lots of folks here to see the cars.

The books for this book club meeting is Loving Frank by Nancy Horan.

Synopsis

I have been standing on the side of life, watching it float by. I want to swim in the river. I want to feel the current.” So writes Mamah Borthwick Cheney in her diary as she tries to justify her clandestine love affair with Frank Lloyd Wright. Four years earlier, in 1903, Mamah and her husband, Edwin, had commissioned the renowned architect to design a new home for them. During the construction of the house, a powerful attraction developed between Mamah and Frank, and in time the lovers, each married with children, embarked on a course that would shock Chicago society and forever change their lives.(Amazon)

BOOK BEGINNINGS

It was Edwin who wanted to build a new house.  I didn't mind the old Queen Anne on Oak Park Avenue.  It was full of the things of my childhood, and I found it comforting after so many years away.  But Ed was possessed by the idea of having something modern.  I wonder if he reflects on those days now--on the fact that it was he who craved a place entirely his own.

FRIDAY 56

"I don't know. Why are children always making hiding places?  You tell me"  John pondered it.  "Because we like to have secret places that maybe only our best friends know about."

BOOK BLOGGER HOP

The question today is...

Do you have a pet peeve about books?

I always use a bookmark when reading...so I have lots of them...I pick them up in some of the strangest places...people are always giving away book marks.

I haven't started the book yet...but the synopsis sounds intriguing.  Have you read this book?  If so, let me know what you thought of it.

Hope everyone has an awesome...

GOALS.....

I've been looking through my quilts.  I want to get some of these done by the end of 2020.  But some will have to wait until 2021.

My 2020 list of Quilts to finish:

1. Umbrella Quilt

2. 12 " Crazy Quilt

3.  Jar Quilt

4. RSC 2020 Quilt

I figure I can get those 4 done this year.  The blocks are done, some need sashing.  Then sandwich them and put the binding on.

My 2021 list of Quilts to finish:  I figure I can do one quilt a month.  Most of the work is already done...I just need to get them all together and see what needs to be done to finish them.  I found this little sign on line...seems like a great idea...now to get started....the first one is done...set a goal...now on to making a plan...and getting to work.

1. Red Work Quilt

2. Blue Work Quilt

3. Dresden Quilt

4.  Leaf Quilt

5. Embroidered Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam

6.  Under the Sea Quilt

7.  Cat/Mouse Quilt

8. Fall Sampler

9. Christmas Sampler

I will be adding a tab to my blog for all I want to get done....hopefully this will give me the inspiration to get it all done.

That's it for today...hope you all have  a great

STITCHING AWAY!

I've been working on Heather's quilt, she is my niece.  She likes cats...so I'm making her a cat quilt.  And of course where there are cats...there are mice.  So the quilt is a mix of cats and mice.  I got a couple done, but still have to put there features on.

It's also time to report on my HQAL(Hand Quilting A Long)....Well, August wasn't too productive...we were having a heat wave almost the whole month...temps in the 80's and 90's with high humidity.  My HQAL is my Bee Quilt.  I worked on one of the bee blocks...

Did some quilting around the be flight lines and some on the left bee.  I'm not sure what I'm going to quilt in all those empty spaces of white...does anyone have any suggestions...any info will be very appreciated.  This is the first quilt I've attempted to hand quilt.  Mostly I'm winging it, but not sure about all that white space.

Go check out what everyone else is working on...

Kathy, Margaret, TracyDeb, Susan,  Nanette,  EdithSharonKarrin, Gretchen, Kathi,  Bella, Daisy, Connie, Monica and Sherrie

Since the weather has cooled off so far this month, hoping to get some more done on this quilt.

I've been a little per-occupied with Heather's quilt and starting my Christmas Sampler.  I've also got the patterns cut out for a Fall Sampler.  Way toooooo many projects bouncing around in my head.  But I'll work on all of them some time or another this month.

SCRAPPY RED.....

I've been working on my Crazy Quilt blocks for RSC 2020...Got all the blocks made and am now embellishing them.  This is block 3.

I also finally made it to the hair dresser for a much needed hair cut.  This gal has been cutting my hair for 20 years...I like her a lot.  I've tried others, but Tammy is the best.  The pictures didn't come out like I wanted them to...but believe me I needed a hair cut BAD.

THURSDAY GOODIES.....

 I like Thursday because...

I got a phone call from my library...they are starting up the book club again.  It's been 6 months since we had a meeting...I miss all the folks that come to the meetings.  We have a meeting on the 24th at 6:30....it will be outside in the pavilion, so we can have social distance.

I also like that I got my Valentine Quilt done, you can see my post HERE.  On to the next UFO...my Jar Quilt.  It needs sandwiched, tied and binding.  But I'm out of batting, so I'll have to order some.

I also like this new show I've been watching on Netflix...New Tricks.  They have 8 seasons and I'm on season 6..there are 12 seasons done, so hoping Netflix gets the rest of them.  You can read all about this T.V. show on wiki

Our tomatoes have been producing lots of tomatoes...nothing like a fresh tomato off the vine.  These are called Black Prince tomatoes..they have less acid for people that can't tolerate a regular tomato.

The strawberries are producing...but sorry to say they don't make it to the house..they get picked and ate from the vines.

Do you read the comics?  One of my favorites is Garfield..

I laid out my Crazy Quilt on my design "floor" to see if I had enough to put it together.  Toby and Bob decided to lay on it.

Do you have a TBR(To Be Read) list?  I have one on my blog...it's in my TAB at the top of my page.  I collect book titles when I visit other bloggers.  Then I check my library to see if they have them.  I quite a list so far.  Have you read any of them?

TA DA TODAY....

I've got a Ta Da today...The Valentine Quilt is finished...this is also for To-Do Tuesday.  My list from September 8th through the 14th.

1. Finish the Valentine Quilt

2. Start embellishing the RSC 2020 blocks

3. Lay out the Umbrellas on my design "floor".

1. It was a pretty productive week...worked on my RSC 2020 blocks...started embellishing them.  Also got the Valentine Quilt done...yea!  This quilt is also my OMG and UFO Number Draw Challenge.

 2. Started the embellishments on my RSC 2020 blocks.  I've got 2 of them done.

Block 2

3.  I put the Umbrella's out on the design wall "floor"...this is what I came up with, but that may change.  I've got a few more blocks to do and then one will be put together.  Haven't decided if I want to put a border between the rows or leave it as is.  The bottom row needs another blue one.  I like this!  I just may leave it without between borders and put a wide border on the edges.  What do you think?  Between borders or edge border???

The TAST stitch this week over at Pintangle is Whipped and Double Whipped Chain Stitch...this is my stitching.

To-Do for...

September 15th through September 21st

1. Work on RSC 2020 blocks

2. Work on Cat Quilt

3. Do 4 more blue umbrella blocks.

TUESDAY ALREADY!

I've lost a couple of days...I thought today was Sunday...that's not good...anyway it is Tuesday and it's time for To-Do Tuesday list...I've missed a couple weeks...so I'll post my last list from August 18 to the 24th.

1. Work on binding Zoe's Quilt

2. Work on Valentine Quilt

3. Make a few more Umbrella blocks.

1. Zoe's Quilt is done...she was visiting last week, so when she went home this past weekend she took her quilt with her.

2.  I've got 2 sides of the Valentine Quilt done...

3. I got a couple more Umbrella blocks done...there is a change for this one...the raindrop fabric I got for the borders is now having umbrella's on it.  I thought it looked really good...I'll throw a few of them into the mix....which gives me an excuse to buy more fabric...lol.

 My list for:

September 8th through September 14

1. Finish the Valentine Quilt

2. Start embellishing the RSC 2020 blocks

3. Lay out the Umbrellas on my design "floor".
