I LIKE THURSDAY BECAUSE......

I get to share all my likes with you.  Lets start off with shirts....yea I said shirts.  I usually have a flannel shirt on most of the time.  It takes the chill off, but doesn't make me hot.  I finally get to break out my Flannel Shirt I got for Christmas last year.  It's flannel, but it's heavier than regular flannel.  It's a fleece fabric, but looks like flannel.  Excuse the mess...we are in the process of re-paneling the walls.  This is me in my heavy flannel shirt.  It's really warm and cozy!

Alexis's quilt is coming along.  I've got 7 rows done...one more to go.

I pulled out my projects box to see what I can work on next....I haven't worked on my Christmas Sampler for a while.  So I'll work on that for a while.

I'm looking forward to going to Book Club tonight.  Haven't finished the book...The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller.  but I've got a good start on it.

What have I been watching on T.V.  I've started re-watching CSI..New York.  Some of them I remember and some I don't.  I really need to catch up on my t.v. shows on CBS.  I use a streaming  channel, Paramount, to watch those.  As for everything else going on around here....same as always.  The twins are growing...

Bella is almost as tall as me.

And Luke is built like his grandpa and dad....tall with broad shoulders.

They are both Autistic, but you wouldn't know that unless someone told you.  They are just like every other 11 year old child.  They are in 5th grade this year and doing great.  I'm very proud of both of them.  Well, that's it for now....have a wonderful.

BUSY, BUSY, AND MORE BUSY.....

My To-Do Tuesday list from last week.

1. Tie the Candy Hearts Quilt👎

2. Cut binding for Candy Hearts.👎

3.Make some more blocks for Alexis's Quilt

I didn't do very well this week.  The Candy Hearts quilt is in the hoop, but that's as far as I've made it.  No tying or binding cut.

I've been working on Alexis's quilt.  I ran out of the green fabric I was using....see my post on that HERE.

I decided to continue with the green, but a different color of green.  I'll mix these into the quilt so it doesn't mess with my rows too much.  I've got the last 2 rows cut and pinned, ready to applique.  Then I have some embroidery to do on the blocks.

I went to the library yesterday....and got soaked.  It was raining and my umbrella came up missing.  I was on a list to get The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller.  It's my Book Clubs choice for October.  And my book club meets next week....so I need to read this book fast.  I'm playing along with Teaser Tuesday.  Here is my teaser....

"I drop my bathrobe to the ground and stand naked at the water's edge."

Next week's To-Do List....is a repeat from last week.

1. Tie Candy Hearts

2. Cut binding for Candy Hearts

3.  Work on Alexis's Quilt.

You all have a........

ALEXIS'S QUILT.....

I was moving along with making blocks for Alexis's quilt.  I had 5 and  a half rows done.  And.....what is this....I'm out of the green I've been using.  So I pieced some of the pieces I had to get my 6 rows.  But as you can see....it's still toooooo short for a twin size bed.

It needs 2 more rows....ummm what to do.  Well, let's think about this....I could add a row to the top and bottom that has a different color...or put lots of borders on it, but I don't really want to do that.  I think I'm going to go with my first choice....using the white on white and a different color for the blocks.  Maybe blue would work????  I'll have to lay it out to see what it looks like.  I know, once it's done, it will have a border around it.  I've already got the fabric cut for that.

I've added a few more String blocks to my pile...I really need to get back to working on this.

I also worked on my Band Sampler a couple days this week.  Last time I showed it, I was at the orange Sheaf Stitch.

Now I need to figure out what to do for July.  This is a personal journal Band Sampler I'm working on.  It's my account of the 2021 year.  Well, I guess that's it for now.  I'm linking up with these folks...so head over and check out what everyone is working on.  Have a lazy stitching....

SOME OF THIS AND SOME OF THAT.......

 Hi everyone,

Hope you all are well...not me.  I've caught a cold.  The grands got it first, the first week of school.  Now it's spreading to the rest of us.

What have I been working on....Alexis's quilt. .RSC 2021, and my National Day Calendar Block.  I've got 2 blocks done for Alexis's quilt.  A couple Jar blocks.

This jar is a little wonky, but it's ok with me.  I also got my green RSC basket block done.

And my National Day Calendar block done.  October 1st was International Coffee Day.  So I made a mug.

That's about it....haven't started tying the Candy Hearts, but it's in the hoop...hope to get to it this coming week, along with cutting the fabric for the binding.  Hope you all have an awesome sewing Saturday.

TO-DO TUESDAY......

is hosted over at Texas Quilt Gal...head over and see what everyone's To-Do list for this past week.

As for my list...I did pretty good this week.

1.  Work on Alexis's Quilt.

2.  Sandwich Candy Hearts and cut binding.

3.  Put a few more stitches into my Band Sampler.

1. I have 4 rows of Alexis's quilt done...just have to lay it out on the bed to see how much more I need to get it done.  Then decide what color to make the strips between the rows.

After seeing the quilt laid out...I don't think I'll put strips between the rows.  Now I just need more blocks.

2.  I got the Candy Hearts quilt sandwiched and in the hoop.  I'll start to tie it  this week.

3. The Band Sampler got a few more stitches.  I'm working on the orange row at the bottom.  The stitch is called Sheaf Stitch.  When I need names of embroidery stitches, I head over to Sharon's place, Pintangle.  She has a stitch dictionary.  Plus lots of embroidery related "stuff".  You should check her place out.  My row of Sheaf Stitch is a little off, but this is what a Band Sampler is, learning new stitches and experimenting with the stitches.

What I need to work on this coming week.

1. Tie the Candy Hearts Quilt

2. Cut binding for Candy Hearts.

3.Make some more blocks for Alexis's Quilt

Have a great sewing day....

I also sandwiched Candy Hearts....it is in the hoop waiting to be tied.

I also worked on Alexis's quilt.  I need 2 more blocks, then I can start laying in out, so see what more it needs.  Alexis's quilt is made up of extra applique pieces I had left over from other quilts.  This block is a left over from the Candy Hearts quilt.

Hope you have great day!

STRIKE ONE OFF THE LIST.......

I finished the Salt and Sand quilt last night.  Just have to put the label on.

Working on the Orange quilt now...putting the binding on.  Then I'll add the labels to Salt and Sand....and the Orange Quilt.

I've been working on my "new" quilts...instead of getting some of my older ones finished.  So I'll start working on one of my older quilts.  I think I'll dig out my Under the Sea quilt top....This is the first quilt I made years ago.  It's a little bigger than I usually make, but when I made it, I was a lot younger and could get on the floor, now I can't.  So all my quilts are put on my cutting table to sandwich.  Trying to get a "big" quilt sandwiched on the cutting table is a little tricky.  There are lots of frustrations and aggravation.  So I'll be "trying" to get this one sandwiched before the end of the year.  It needs a border, so I'll dig around in my fabrics and see what I can find.

THIS AND THAT AGAIN.......

I've been working on this and that this past week.  I've been trying to get the 2 quilts done that are waiting for binding.  Cut my binding for the Salt and Sand...and my Orange quilt.

Started the binding on Salt and Sand last night.

I also worked on my Band Sampler this past week.  I've got June done and now need to start on July.  This is a personal journal Band Sampler.

While I was tying my 2 quilts...I needed a needle puller and couldn't find any.  So I went hunting on line....didn't find any there either.  So I improvised.  I found some jar lid grippers at Amazon...so I ordered some of those.  Got them in the mail, and cut a red one down to size for a needle puller.  They work great!!
