RAINY SUNDAY STITCHING......

It's 52 degrees outside and raining.  So this is a perfect day to finish up Bella's Sunbonnet Sue Quilt \

and finish tying Thomas's Overall Sam Quilt.

These are birthday quilts for my grand's...they are twins and their birthday is in July....I may get them done in time...lol.  I have several projects I'm working on...which one to do....it's a toss up....

1. Finish sewing the Frog Quilt together.

2.  Finish sewing the Tile Blocks together.

3.  Start assembling the Red Work Quilt

4.  Work on my quilt for the Sand and Salt Blog Hop.  I need some sand colored fabric...which I don't have at the moment.  I'll have to make run to Hobby Lobby...or get my son's girlfriend to go for me.  So this one will have to wait until that happens.  You can find more info on this blog hop here.

5.  I could make my Green Basket for RSC 2021...I'm making a basket for every color, so I'll have 12 baskets done at the end of the year.  This is January's basket...pink.  And I have to make a decision about what color to make the strips.  The quilt will be 4 rows of 3 blocks with strips between the rows.

I think that's enough to keep me busy this rainy Sunday....hope you all have an awesome sewing...

UFO'S......

we all have them...it could be one that's been around for years or it could be one that was made the beginning of this year.  I personally have around 15 of them.  Right now I've got 2 ready to finish.  Sunbonnet Sue is getting binding.

Overall Sam is in my hoop being tied.

Yesterday I cut the fabric to put my Red Work quilt together.  I think I'll put a final border of  a light green to this one.  So I have more than enough to keep me busy.

Plus I'm still working on the frogs and tile quilts.  And over at Scrap Happy, the color for March will be green...have to get a basket done for this one.

SHOW YOUR STRIPES BLOG HOP......

is hosted by Clara over at Creatin' in the Sticks.

the Challenge:
Add a stripe, or two, or three to your project.
It can be striped fabric, striped binding (a favorite of mine), or strips of fabric to make stripes.
It's your interpretation of a striped project.
Anything with a stripe.  You decide.
Just "Show Your Stripes!"

Today is my day to show my stripes.  I didn't have any striped fabric....so what to do.  At the time I was working on a frog wall hanging. ( I liked the way this was turning out...so it became a quilt in progress.)   And I had a lot of green scraps.  So I decided to make my own stripes for the border around the blocks.  This is one block with stripes...
How I made my stripes....the strips are  1" wide.  Then I cut them at various sizes and started sewing them into strips.  I've started putting the blocks all together.  This is what I have done so far.

I have one more row to put on and I'll have a filmsy.

Want to see more Stripes....check out the links below to see who's doing stripes today.

TO-DO TUESDAY.....

The new place for To-Do Tuesday is over at Chris Knits.  I'm so glad she picked up this meme...I really miss making my list every week.

February 23rd through March 1st

1. Finish sewing the frogs together.

2. Finish sewing the Tile Blocks together.

3. Tie and bind Sunbonnet Sue

4. Put Overall Sam in the hoop.

I have one more row to add and the frogs will be done.  The rather chubby black blob on my quilt is Tobby.  He's laying in the sun, sunbathing.  He wouldn't move, so he's in the picture.

The Tile Quilt needs 1 more block and the strips sewed on.

I've started tying Sunbonnet Sue...I'll be working on this today.

Overall Sam is sandwiched and waiting it's turn in the hoop.

So I think I've got enough to keep me busy this week. Hope you all.....

SUNDAY STITCHING......

 Hi everyone,

What am I working on this Sunny, Cold day?   It's 30 degrees outside, but feels like 19...the wind is blowing, making it feel cold.

I laid out the Frog Quilt on my design "floor".

Got all the rows stacked and ready to sew them together.

I've also been working on the Tile Quilt.  It needs 3 more blocks.

My TAST(Take A Stitch Tuesday) hosted by Sharon, at Pintangle on Tuesday, is to learn a new embroidery stitch.  I've been learning old and new stitches. I thought I would make a quilt from these stitches.  I've got 2 done...Chain Stitch and Fly Stitch.

The next stitch I will be doing is Buttonhole Stitch.  I've looked on the internet for an idea to do this one and found a great picture to do it.  I tried to get the link for this, but it kept sending me somewhere else..so I gave up.  I'll be doing one flower and a couple of stems.

SNOW, SNOW, AND MORE SNOW......

Monday we had about 2 inches of snow on the ground.  Tuesday...we got around 12 inches...and we got another 1 inch this morning.....I'm ready for spring!!!

And I can't forget Bob....he's our dog..he loves being outside...even in the snow.  His look reminds me of like a little kid that doesn't want to come inside to get warm.😊

I got a bunch of new fabric in the mail this week....Bleached Muslin, Unbleached Muslin, some pretty Green for the backing of my Frog Quilt....some gray and a pretty pink lacy fabric.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, our water pipes froze up this week....we had temps below zero for 2 days...you never know how much you miss water until you don't have it.  All we had was a trickle of cold water, the hot was not running at all.  This is how we thaw the pipes out....a big fan sitting in front of the sink sucking in hot air.

I've started a new quilt...as if I need another new project🙂  I'm using all the embroidery stitches I've learned over the years.  These  2 are the first ones I've done.  It's Chain and Fly stitches.  Want to learn these stitches...head over to Sharon's place, Pintangle...she has a stitch dictionary and you can find any stitch you want to learn.

I'm kind of stumped as what to do with Buttonhole stitch...haven't found anything to make from it.  Anyone have any ideas???  Well, that's it for now..hope you all.....

BOOK REPORT......

I've finished my book for my reading challenge, Cruz'n Through the Cozies, hosted over at Socrates' Books.  Head over and check this out.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder - Joann Fluke

Synopsis

Hannah already has her hands full trying to dodge her mother’s attempts to marry her off while running The Cookie Jar, Lake Eden’s most popular bakery. But once Ron LaSalle, the beloved delivery man from the Cozy Cow Dairy, is found murdered behind her bakery with Hannah’s famous Chocolate Chip Crunchies scattered around him, her life just can’t get any worse. Determined not to let her cookies get a bad reputation, she sets out to track down a killer. But if she doesn’t watch her back, Hannah’s sweet life may get burned to a crisp.

MY THOUGHTS

This is the first book of  the series...if you want to start this series of books, this is the one to start with.  I've been trying to read this series for years, but have never gotten around to it.  This is a really good mystery, with murder as the base.  And you get all the information on how Hannah started the bakery.  Plus you get recipes.  I really liked this book.  I give this book 5 *****.

1 IN THE HOOP......

I finally got Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam sandwiched.  Sunbonnet Sue is in the hoop, ready to be tied.   I ran out of batting. I could have got a couple more filmsys together.  I either have to send a friend to Hobby Lobby or order the batting on line.  As slow as the deliveries have been by mail, I most likely will send a friend to Hobby Lobby.

I have been working on a couple other things.  I got my yellow basket done for RSC 2021.

And February is American Heart Month....so I made a heart block for My National Calendar Quilt.

I am still working on the Tile Quilt.  I've got almost all of them done.  Just need a few more blocks and I can start putting it together.  What are you working on this weekend?  Click on the links to do a little blog hopping.

BOOKS AND QUILTS.....

I've finished a book,  I really enjoyed it. Full of suspense and mystery.   It's a book by James Patterson, he's one of my favorite authors, when one his new books hits the library...I get it!  This book is book 26 of the Alex Cross series.  I give this book 5 *  Read my review of this book at Just Books.

Target Alex Cross

A killer elite - six assassins - are on the loose. So is Alex Cross.

A leader has fallen, and Alex Cross joins the procession of mourners from Capitol Hill to the White House. Then a sniper's bullet strikes a target in the heart of DC. Alex Cross' wife, Bree Stone, newly elevated chief of DC detectives, must solve the case or lose her position. The Secret Service and the FBI deploy as well in the race to find the shooter.

Alex is tasked by the new president to lead an investigation unprecedented in scale and scope. But is the sniper's strike only the beginning of a larger attack on the nation?

What I'm reading now....

Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joann Fluke.

Book Beginnings

Hannah Swensen slipped into the old leather bomber jacket that she'd rescued from the Helping Hands thrift store and reached down to pickup the huge orange tomcat that was rubbing against her ankles.  "Okay, Moishe.  You can have one refill, but that's it until tonight."

The Friday 56

Hannah remembered the things in her sister's garage, all the clothing, toys, and toddler-sized furniture that Tracey had out grown.  "Andrea may have a chair for Suzie.  I'll ask her."

"No."  Luanne shook her head.  "I know your mean well, Hannah, be don't need charity.  We're getting along just fine."

And what are you planning on doing this First Friday of the Month?  I'll be reading and working on putting my Red Work quilt together.  I've got everything sorted out...just have to put it together.  I've decided to use the darker red for my filler blocks.  The other red fabric will be the binding.

 Hope you all......

MONTHLY GOALS.....

Since it's February,  l am going to be working on one quilt.....to finally get it finished.  It's the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt.  All the blocks are embroidered.  This is a birthday gift for my granddaughter, Bella.  Her birthday is in July, so I should have enough time to finish it.   BUT, yes there is a but, her brother Thomas, is her twin, so he gets a quilt too.  His quilt is an Overall Sam that is also embroidered.  So for February I'll be working on these 2 quilts.  The quilt tops are done....they need to be sandwiched, tied and bound.   That's Bob on the quilt top.  He wouldn't move....

These 2 quilts are for :
