Z IS FOR.....

 Zucchini....

 Zucchini Bread

  • 1 1/2 cups grated zucchini - lightly packed -do not drain liquid
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil -or your preferred cooking oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, add the grated zucchini, sugar, brown sugar, applesauce, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk until well combined.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir just until no dry flour remains, trying not to over mix.
  • Pour the batter into the loaf pan. Bake for 50 to 54 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center of the bread should come out with moist crumbs on it.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove from the pan and transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely before slicing.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator. *This bread is best served after it has been refrigerated for at least 12 hours.

IT'S THURSDAY.....

One more day of A to Z Blogging Challenge.  Then I have to decide what to do with all these blocks....I know there will be strips of fabric between, but what color to use and how many in a row.  Decisions, Decisions and more Decisions.

This week I worked on several projects...

1. Salt and Sand Quilt...started adding the Clams..

2. Tile Quilt...finished putting the strips on...I have a Filmsy now...

3. I started a String Quilt...I've never done one of these...I find that I like it!  I'm making these blocks on  6 1/2" muslin.

So, that's what I've been doing this week.  What projects are you working on?

SOME OF THIS AND THAT......

Yesterday I cut the binding for the Teapot Quilt.  Also the strips for the Tile Quilt.  The one on the right is the binding fabric...it looks like it's red but it's brown print.

I also cut the strips for the Salt and Sand Quilt.  Now I can start adding the Clams.  I didn't want to use white for the clams....so I searched out Google's advice about what color are Clams.  Clams come in a variety of colors, Blue, Brown, Orange, Purple, Gray, Green and Yellow.

I've been buying fabric for years...I've just started saving the little strips along the sides, the ones with the name of of the fabric and who distributes it.  But, I have a question for anyone your knows what the heck does this mean....All those colored numbers...I have no idea.😕

I'll be working on my Salt and Sand Quilt today...and putting the last 3 strips on the Tile Quilt.  What  are you working on today/

U IS FOR......

 UP the stairs......

which I don't do anymore.  My bedroom used to be upstairs...but I can't climb them anymore.  How many steps are there....19.  Way tooooo many for me!

This is the last Blue Scrappy Saturday over at So Scrappy.  I've not got any BLUE to show you, but all the A to Z items for this quilt were made with scarps from my scrap bags.

I have a UFO  that is almost a filmsy.  The Tile Quilt needs  3 strips and it will be done.

The Salt and Sand quilt is progressing.  All the fish are sewn on, the next border row will be Sand, I'll be adding Clams to this border.

These 3 quilts are my main focus for now.  So for today, I'll be cutting strips for the Tile Quilt, and a large strip for the Salt and Sand quilt.  What are you working on today?

Yesterday evening it started snowing.  And snowed into the wee hours of today.  We got about 4 or 5 inches of the white stuff.

While it was snowing last night, I worked on my Salt and Sand Quilt....added the last of the fish to the outside border.  The quilt is moving along at a slow pace, but I'll get there.

Quilt...and this saying is so right.  When I feel out of sorts or have a bad day......

working on one of my quilts quiets my mind and lets me relax.

As for my To-Do Tuesday list....it's a bust.  All I got done was to finish the middle of the Table Runner and get the Teapot Quilt Sandwiched..  I've been working on the A to Z Quilt and my Salt and Sand Quilt.

STITCHING ON THIS AND THAT.......

I've got blocks caught up for the A to Z Blogging Challenge to the letter T.  Today's letter is

P...for Pumpkin

I've always considered pumpkins a veggie....but it's NOT.

A pumpkin, from a botanist's perspective, is a fruit because it's a product of the seed-bearing structure of flowering plants. Vegetables, on the other hand, are the edible portion of plants such as leaves, stems, roots, bulbs, flowers, and tubers.

Want to know more about the Pumpkin?  Wikipedia has all the info you want to find out.

I am working on a National Day Calendar Quilt.  April is Car Care Month.  So I of course made a Car block for my quilt.  I need to put a tail light on this car.  I'll be using a Bullion Knot for this.  Want to know how to make a Bullion Knot...hop over to Sharon's place, Pintangle.  She has a picture tutorial on how to do this stitch.

And yesterday's post was about my Table Runner.  I finished the center embroidery for this.  Now to figure out what to do with the rest of the space.  Any suggestions?????

STITCHING.....

I've been working on my A to Z project for the last couple of weeks...trying to keep up.  Today is a break from that.  So I'm hoping I can finish up the embroidery on my Table Runner.

I've only got a couple flowers, stems and leaves to do...then I can start adding the border.  I'll be adding a border of flowers around the outside edges.  Hopefully I can figure out the placement so that it all balances out.  That's what I'll be working on today.  What are you stitching this sunny Sunday?

O IS FOR.....

 Oval....

and no it isn't suppose to be an Easter Egg...lol.   But it could, if the letter was E.

What does oval mean?
An oval (from Latin ovum, "egg") is a closed curve in a plane which resembles the outline of an egg. The term is not very specific, but in some areas (projective geometry, technical drawing, etc.)

N IS FOR....

 Needle Threader...

A couple years ago I bought 100 Needle Threaders from Ebay.  I gave 3.00 for them.  I use needle threaders a lot when I'm working on a quilt....as I do a lot of hand sewing.  Even though I got new glasses this year, I still have trouble threading a needle.

I also use them to thread my needle while tying a quilt.   They break easy, so yarn doesn't work in them all the time.  Do you use a needle threader?

THIS AND THAT.....

Last night I ripped out the Tile Quilt and redid it.  Now it's all done, just needs some strips along the sides, top and bottom.  And it will be ready to sandwich.

Speaking of sandwich, I got the Teapot Quilt sandwiched.  It's waiting to be tied.

And of course I can't forget about the letter M, which is the letter today for the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  So M is for.....

Mouse...
