DOILY

I was going to finish up my Zebra Afghan as it's a Christmas present.  But we have been having a heat wave the whole month.  It's really hard to work with yarn when it's 90+ degrees outside even in air conditioning. So instead I worked on my Year of the Doilies.  This particular doily was really hard.  I ripped it out 3 times and started over.  But the 3rd time must have been a charm because it went without a hitch.  I haven't blocked it yet.  So it's still kind of crinkly.

PROJECT 366 REWIND[WEEK #30]

After some much needed rain, the sun came out and the sky was glowing.

When you have twins, you learn to take a rest when and where you can get it.  Even if they are laying on you.

We had some storms blow through here.  One of them knocked down the old antenna tower.  We hadn't used it in years so it won't be missed.  Hubby is taking it apart and putting on the scrap pile to be recycled.

Inside my hubby's man space.  It needs a organization touch.  But he won't let me.  Says he knows where everything is.  He's the only one that does!

Busy hands.  Bella and Luke are always busy doing something.

Happiness is..................a piece of paper and a crayon.

I was up early enough to catch daybreak.
This is my July favorite picture.

BOOK REVIEW

"So Damn Lucky" by Deborah Coonts
Product Description(Amazon.com)

Lucky O’Toole—Head of Customer Relations at The Babylon, premier mega-resort on the Vegas Strip—thinks it’s just another night in Las Vegas. But then a magician pulls a disappearing act, right under Lucky’s nose. Is it a stunt? Or something worse?
While Lucky chases leads, someone is trying to put her off the scent. As if this wasn’t enough to ruin her day, Lucky’s relationship with The Big Boss is coming to a head—past hurts can no longer be denied. Of course, she is already on shaky emotional ground: Teddie, her live-in, has been touring with a young and lovely pop star. Paxton Dane, former coworker and would-be suitor, is still circling, hoping to find a chink in the armor of Lucky’s resolve. And then, there’s this French chef, who is proving to be too hot to handle….
Las Vegas expert Deborah Coonts thrills again with this third installment in her dazzling series focused on casino “fixer” Lucky O’Toole.
  • Hardcover: 384 pages
  • Publisher: Forge Books; First Edition edition (February 28, 2012)
  • Language: English

  • ISBN-13: 978-0765330062

MY THOUGHTS: I've read several of the Luck O' Toole books by Ms. Coonts.  They are full of lots of info so you don't get confused about who is who and what is going on.  I really like that in a book.  Lucky is looking for love in all the wrong places, but maybe she's found it this time.  But who knows.  Lucky is not really good a picking out a good guy.  The last one left her.  On top of all the personal problems Lucky has, she's after a killer.  She has a missing magician, a crazy guy that lives under the city, and a mysterious box.  Throw these all together and Lucky is in a heap of trouble.  I really enjoyed reading this book.  Full of mystery, my favorite.  Does Lucky get her guy and the killer?  You'll have to read the book to find out.

MY RATING: 5

FRIDAY'S FAVE FIVE

Susanne over at Living to Tell the Story is the host for Friday's Fave Five.  Hop over and check out what everyone is thankful for this week.

Sunshine - after 2 days of some much needed rain, the clouds finally parted and the sky was glowing.
Rest - we sometimes don't get enough.  Especially with twins.  So when you get a chance to rest you take it any way you can.  Even if one of them is laying on you.
My Hubby - we have had several severe storms blow through this week.  One of them took down the old antenna tower.  It wasn't being used so it won't be missed.  My hubby took it apart and put it in the scrap pile to be sold at a later date.
Grandbabies - well I guess you could say they aren't babies anymore.  Bella and Luke turned 2 a couple of weeks ago.  I love them so much.  I waited so long for them to appear in my life.
BELLA
LUKE
Paper and Crayons - can be such a good thing for little hands.  It keeps them busy for awhile.

BOOKING THROUGH THURSDAY

Over at Booking Through Thursday the question this week is......

Do you have a favorite season of the year that you read more? (Example: during snow storms, rainy weather, or sunny and warm weather) Where is your favorite place to read? On the beach? Inside/outside?
I really don't read more in any season.  Well, not that I've noticed anyway.  As for my favorite place to read,  it's at my desk, I've got a nice comfy chair and it's far enough away from the living room where all the action is.  The twins, T. V. and other people.  You see I need quiet when I read.  So being at my desk gives me that.

DOILY DONE

As for me,  I'm not working on anything right now.  It's just tooooo blasted hot to work with yarn.  !03 yesterday.  But Carol has inspired me.  I'm going to jump on the mini Granny Square band wagon.  I've got some new yarn and dying to work with it.  So I'll be making something with it, maybe a couple pillow covers.  Who knows, maybe a blanket.  I did finish my doily I had been working on.  It hasn't been blocked yet so it's still kind of crinkly.

BOOK REVIEW - THE ANGEL

"The Angel" by Carla Neggers
Product Description(Amazon.com)
Inside an ancient ruin, Keira discovers the mythic stone angel she seeks—but also senses a malevolent presence…just before the ruins collapse around her.
Search-and-rescue veteran Simon Cahill finds Keira in the rubble just as she's about to free herself. Simon holds no stock in myths or magic, so he isn't surprised that there's no trace of her stone angel.
But there is evidence of startling violence and—whatever the source—the danger to Keira is quite real. The long-forgotten legend that captivated her has also aroused a killer…a calculating predator who will follow them back to Boston, determined to kill again.
Mass Market Paperback: 368 pages
Publisher: Mira; Reprint edition (May 26, 2009)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 077832608X
ISBN-13: 978-0778326083
MY THOUGHTS:  I really enjoyed reading this book.  The location of Ireland is one of my favorites.  This book is all about an ancient Stone Angel and an Irish Folk story.  Keira is off to Ireland to search out the story told to her.  Is the Stone Angel real or someone's story?  Keira is about to find out.  But along the way she is ambushed and has to be saved.  That's where Simon comes in.  Keira and Simon head back home and run into trouble there.  The killer is after Keira and her mother.  And of course the Stone Angel.  But is the Stone Angel real?  Does Keira find it or the killer?  You'll have to read the book to find out.

FRIDAY'S FAVE FIVE

Susanne over at Living to Tell the Story is the host for Friday's Fave Five.  Hop over and check it out.

1. My Grandbabies Bella and Luke had their 2 year birthday.  Nothing fancy, just us.  But they loved the Strawberry Cake their mom baked them.
2.  Family - We recently had a family gathering.  Got to see my sisters and brother.  Plus all the Great Nieces and Nephews that have grown so much the last few years.
3. Rain - We recently had a storm blow through, and we really needed the rain.  The neighbors lost a tree and some shingles, but thankfully no one was hurt except the tree.
4. My hubby  - he took me to the library recently.  He didn't go inside, but decided to sit in the Gazebo.  On a hot day it was very welcoming.
5. Washing Machine -  I've usually got a mountain of laundry to do every 2 or 3 days.
