FRIDAY'S FAVE FIVE

Suzanne over at Living To Tell The Story is the host for Friday's Fave Five. Suzanne is having a blog party, it's her 100th post and she's celebrating. Hope over and check it out. Here is some info for Friday's Fave Five:

It's a place to come on Friday's and think back over your week and just post about 5 favorite things from your week. It can be anything that tickled your fancy over the week. Favorite quotes, posts, happenings, scriptures, recipes, pictures, great internet finds, etc., etc.

1. I found some really great places to get some scrapbook inspiration this week.
Sweet Peach Crop Blog
These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

2. I started a new book this week. It's really pretty good. Check it out at my book blog, Just Books.
Shoulder Bags and Shootings - Dorothy Howell

3. I got several scrapbook pages done this week. They turned out great I think.
Noah(My Great Nephew)

Out Here in the Field

4. Made some chicken wings. Barbecue and Garlic Butter. They were really yummy.

5. And of course holding my grandbabies. They go to the doctor next week. Hopefully they won't start their shots. They are a month old and starting to get baby wrinkles. If your wondering why I keep saying They, it's because they are twins. Boy, Luke and girl, Bella. I know I've probably shown these pictures, but they are my favorites at the moment.

Bella

Luke

That's my five fave's this week. What are your fave's? Head over to Suzanne's place to check out everyone's fave five.

NOAH

This is a scrapbook page I recently done of my Great Nephew, Noah. He went to the Pumpkin Patch last fall to get a pumpkin for his jack-o-lantern. He had a wonderful time roaming around the pumpkin patch. And of course he found the perfect one, it's to the right of him in the picture, the big one.

CHICKEN WINGS

Monday my son, Tommy, was rummaging around in the freezer for something to cook. He found a pack of Chicken Wings. So he split them in half and made some barbecue and the other half with Garlic Butter. They were delicious! He used some Open Pit Barbecue Sauce on the barbecue wings. The Garlic Butter wings he made the garlic butter his self.

GARLIC BUTTER
1 cup butter, softened
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground paprika

In a small bowl, combine softened butter and minced garlic. Season with garlic salt, pepper and paprika. Mix until smooth.

This is really yummy and doesn't take long. The wings didn't last long.

Welcome to the Camera-Critters meme. We hope that everyone enjoys this meme which is all about photos of animals/critters. So make your post, link back to here, visit other Camera-Critters captures, and have fun! Each month a Camera-Critters capture will be randomly selected to be featured in the sidebar of this blog for the month.

My critters are Miniature Dachshunds, Katie and Bubba. I caught Katie after her stroll outside. She is sitting here waiting for her Root Beer. Yes, she likes to have some Root Beer after she has been outside.

After her Root Beer she's ready for her afternoon siesta. I caught her mid yawn.

SEPIA SCENES

I thought I would follow Mary's example this week. As I love to read. I was reading this book while sitting in the car waiting for someone, can't remember who or what it was, but I always have a book with me. This one is She-Rain by Michael Cogdill. I was reading this book so I could post a review of it at my book blog, Just Books. I review books for authors and publishers. You can see my review of this book here.

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

Susan over at A Southern Daydreamer is the host for Outdoor Wednesday. What are the rules:

1. POST your outdoor photos and the Outdoor Wednesday logo/button on your blog and link back to A Southern Daydreamer so that others will be able to find all the links to other Outdoor Wednesday posts.

Reminder: Do NOT link in until after your post is up.

2. Add your Name and the Permalink to your post (NOT your general blog address) in “Mr. Linky”.

I've been playing around with my new camera. I wanted to get some rain drops to see if the new camera shows them better than the old camera. Mother Nature has been helping out on that level, it's been raining every day this week. So I went out and got up close and personal with the foliage.

I need a little more practice with the camera to get the picture I'm looking for, but for a first time picture I like them. But this is the best picture so far. The Black-eyed Susan's in full bloom. Aren't they beautiful!!

What's in your outdoors today? Head over to Susan's place to check out all the folks showing off their outdoors today.

REVIEW - SAVING CEECEE HONEYCUTT

"Saving CeeCee Honeycutt" by Beth Hoffman
Product Description(Amazon.com)
Twelve-year-old CeeCee Honeycutt is in trouble. For years, she has been the caretaker of her psychotic mother, Camille-the tiara-toting, lipstick-smeared laughingstock of an entire town-a woman trapped in her long-ago moment of glory as the 1951 Vidalia Onion Queen. But when Camille is hit by a truck and killed, CeeCee is left to fend for herself. To the rescue comes her previously unknown great-aunt, Tootie Caldwell.
In her vintage Packard convertible, Tootie whisks CeeCee away to Savannah's perfumed world of prosperity and Southern eccentricity, a world that seems to be run entirely by women. From the exotic Miz Thelma Rae Goodpepper, who bathes in her backyard bathtub and uses garden slugs as her secret weapons, to Tootie's all-knowing housekeeper, Oletta Jones, to Violene Hobbs, who entertains a local police officer in her canary-yellow peignoir, the women of Gaston Street keep CeeCee entertained and enthralled for an entire summer. It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.
# Hardcover: 320 pages
# Publisher: Pamela Dorman Books (January 12, 2010)
# Language: English
# ISBN-10: 0670021393
# ISBN-13: 978-0670021390

MY THOUGHTS: This book so reminded me of The Help by Kathryn Stockett and Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling. As CeeCee gets to know all the folks in her new home, she eventually finds out who CeeCee really is. CeeCee spends her summer getting to know her new family. Aunt Tootie buys her clothes and takes her to the old house she has saved from the wrecking ball. Oletta feeds her with goodies and takes her to meet some old folks and makes some new friends there. Miz Goodpepper and Violene Hobbs keep CeeCee busy with their ongoing battle. But the big battle comes at the garden party Aunt Tootie has to introduce CeeCee to her garden club. Then the really scary day comes when CeeCee goes off to school. It's a private school for rich kids and CeeCee is so afraid she won't fit in, but she makes a new friend, Dixie McAlister. This is a really great first book from Ms. Hoffman. I am looking forward to reading more of her works.

MY RATING: 5

TEASER TUESDAYS

My Teaser

From the day Aunt Tootie delvered the news of Lucas Slade's fate, Oletta began talking to Jesus as if he were sitting right there in the kitchen. One morning I came down for breakfast and heard her say,

NATURE NOTES

I am joining in on Nature Notes over at Rambling Woods. I recently got a new camera and have been playing around with it. It takes really awesome pictures. It's a:

Samsung SL 50

10.2 Megapixels
5X Optical Zoom
2.5" LCD Screen
Perfect Portrait System
Digital Image Stabilization

The pictures are so crisp and clear. My old camera would never have gotten this close of a picture of these birds. I was getting ready to clean the bird bath and put fresh water in when this guy flew up to take a peek.

The other night the Tree Frogs were hanging on the screen of the back door. I got a picture, not the best, I think it's more the photographer than the camera.

Do you have some nature to share? Head over to Rambling Woods and check it out.
