This is the line that hooked me on this book. It's a mystery I want to know about.
I was never formally introduced to the special ops agent who had come for my mother. Technically, his was a welcome invasion of our home. He was helping her, but from what and into what, I didn't know.

I fed and watered the hope that she'd hold out against him forever. But Paul's aim didn't need to be perfect when he never ran out of ammunition.

That opening makes me wonder why a special ops agent has come for her mother. I'm also curious about the ammunition Paul uses. Sounds like a good story.
