Remember the black wooly worms I told you about? Well, I think they were right about winter being bad this year. Another winter storm is here. 6 to 12 inches for us. With 23-30 mile an hour winds, making the wind chill's down to minus 35-45 coming tonight.
This is our current radar. That's all heavy snow. They are saying 1-2 inches per hour. It started snowing about 7:00am this morning. There is already another 3 inches on top of what we already had. It's a wet snow and it's sticking to everything.

Luke under the blanket with grandpa. I kind of cut grandpa out of the picture. But you can still see part of him.

NEW YEAR'S DAY DINNER.....
We had Cabbage Rolls, Fried Potatoes and Corn Bread for out New Year's dinner. It was delicious! I'm going to try and do the recipe. But it's kind of tricky. It's done from memory of my mom doing this. So there aren't any regular measurements. First thing to do......soaking a head of cabbage in hot water for about an hour or more. Before soaking, cut down the sides of the core.
After soaking, pull the leaves off one at a time. Pull off as many as you want.
Next, mix up your hamburger mixture. 1 pound of hamburger, about a cup of uncooked rice, and 2 eggs. It's kind of like making meat loaf.
Now at a scoop of mixture to a cabbage leaf and roll it up. Place in a pan.
Cut up what's left of the cabbage and place in the pan with the cabbage rolls.
Add about 3 16oz. cans of tomato sauce. Then add enough water to cover the cabbage rolls. Cook until the cabbage is done. Then enjoy the meal.

AFGHAN DONE.....
I got my Multicolored Afghan done. And of course I've started another one. I call it Candy Striped Afghan. I'll show some pictures of it later.
The colors are out of my comfort zone, but I like how the colors go together. Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.

PLEASE...........
I'm talking for Billy, our miniature dachshund. Even though he can't "talk" he's really good at getting his message across. I'm eating a piece of jerky and Billy wants some.
I'm waiting....
Finally I'm getting some jerky....
Pleas take note of the raised foot.

BACKYARD VISITOR.....
I was doing dishes yesterday, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw something go flying by the window. I looked around and found this fellow.
He was after the birds that come to our garbage pile. He isn't very big, so I believe he's a young hawk, because most hawks don't come this close to human houses. I kept taking pictures, keep in mind I'm taking these through my kitchen window, so they aren't too good, but you can see him. This is a rear view of him.
This is the front view of him.
I had to do a lot of cropping and adjust the lighting. If you want to see close up, just click on the picture, it will be a little bigger that way.

SHARING.........MAYBE
Bella loves Pringles with cheese. If she gets the whole can, she runs off with it. And on occasion she hides it. Why does she hide it? So she doesn't have to share with Luke. But this time she got caught. Luke has to coax her into sharing.

BOOK REVIEW
The Christmas Box Collection - Richard Paul Evans
Product Description(Amazon.com)
The Christmas Box
A Christmas story unlike any other, The Christmas Box is the poignant tale of a widow and the young family who moves in with her. Together, they discover the first gift of Christmas -- and what the holiday is really all about.
Timepiece
Tracing the lives of a young couple as they discover love, loyalty, and the power of forgiveness, Timepiece is a tale of wisdom and of hope -- and a gentle reminder that the connections from one generation to the next are indelible.
The Letter
A mysterious letter is found at the grave of a couple's only child in this unforgettable conclusion to the collection. As they face love's greatest challenge, they find its truest meaning and learn the lessons that are echoed throughout.
MY THOUGHTS
This was my book club's selection for December. I really enjoyed reading this collection of stories. The author took you inside the lives of this family. Through the generations he connects all the "dots" so the story is complete. I really like that about a book. I like to have all the "dots" connected. If your looking for a wonderful Christmas book to read this is the one.

SNOW, SNOW, AND SNOW.....
Well the snow finally got here about 8:00 pm Friday evening. There is about 2 or 3 inches on the ground and it is still snowing at 2:45pm Saturday. So it looks like I won't be going out for awhile. It's one of my worst fears, that I will fall and break something. The last bone I broke, a little toe, cost us 3,000 dollars. We have no insurance. I would hate to see what a leg or hip would cost. Anyway, I'll not be going anywhere until the snow is gone. This is a good time to work on my quilts, afghans and read by books. I've got Luke's Coloring Book quilt in the hoop getting tied. I've also gotten the Bone Quilt top finished, just need some fabric for the backing and some batting to finish it. I've also been working on my Multi-colored Afghan. It's just about finished.

ME AND BELLA....
This picture was taken by the kids mom, Heather, and it's out of focus, but I really like it. I was taken last month before the really cold weather came. Tonight it's 25 degrees with a good wind blowing from the north, so the temp fells close to 0. As for the snow, well it didn't get here, not a lot anyway, a few snow flurries is all we had.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. Enjoy the goodies!!

LEAVES, LEAVES, LEAVES.....
The leaves are falling fast off the trees. The twins were outside on one of our better days. It's been cold and rainy here. I snapped a few pictures of them playing in the leaves.
Luke is scooping the leaves into the bucket..Bella is counting the leaves.
Then pour the leaves into another bucket.
