SAL.......

I recently joined in on a SAL over at Avis's place.  I'm not a fast embroiderer when it comes to kits.  I was at Wal-Mart a few years ago buying yarn and started looking at the embroidery kits.  I came across this pillowcase set and really liked the pattern, so I bought it.  I also am joining Kathy over at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching, I think this could called slow stitching...lol
It took me 6 months to do the first one.  It has been waiting for the second one to get done for so long it's yellowed some....hoping that comes out in the wash.

But the second one has gone unfinished for a few years and I really want to get this done.  So I joined this SAL to get inspiration to finish this.
I've started on the lower left corner of the ribbon....but after looking at the chart, I've already messed it up....so have to pull some of the stitches out.  Hoping to have time to have more progress at the next SAL update.  Below are all the folks joining in this SAL....hop over and see what everyone is working on.

  1. Welcome to the SAL Sherrie :-) Your embroidery deserves to be finished. We'll cheer you on. Did you copy one link at a time from my email? If so, you just need to copy and paste the whole lot in one go then I think they'll appear in lines. I hope that helps.

  2. Welcome to the SAL ! Those pillow cases look nice. In terms of washing the yellow out of the original one I saw a ton of people recommending oxiclean, working even on 20 year old stains on cross stitched work. Good luck with it :)

  4. A little bit of OXIclean in the water might take that yellowing out of your pillowcase. This is a pretty pattern and the SAL is a great way to stay motivated. Welcome.

  7. I have always loved pillowcases spilling over with pretty embroidery. Love the design on your lovely ones. How fun that it is cross stitch.

  10. Welcome Sherrie!!! I love a "productive" project, but am still learning embroidery -- I love the idea of embroidered pillowcases. This stitch-a-long has really helped me stay motivated and keep working on projects, I'm sure it will do the same for you!

  12. Welcome to this very encouraging SAL, Sherrie. We all have old projects and every now and then, their turn has come. I have embroidered many pillowcases over the years, often for gifts. This will be a great project to work on slowly. No pressure!

  16. Oh I loved embroidery. My fingers don't like it anymore but I treasure the pieces I have and enjoyed giving some as gifts. It is a good way to relax I think. Unless you mess up a stitch...
