Today is Sunday.....so it's Slow Sunday Stitching...hop over to Kathy's Quilts to see what everyone is working on. I'll also be joining Mel over at Mel's Quilt Blog for 15 Minutes of Stitching...hop over and see what Mel is working on.
I will be working on my 4th of July quilt. It's all done except for the binding. So I'll be putting the binding on. I was kind of forced to hand bind my quilts. My sewing machine is broken and needs to go to the shop......but the shop is closed due to the virus....I've never put binding on by hand before...this will the 3rd quilt I've done...and I've found I really enjoy doing the binding by hand. The binding is on the left side...
I also will be working on putting some blocks together for the RSC 2020 over at So Scrappy...the color this month is Dark Green....so I pulled out some Dark Greens and I'll see what I can do with these...it might be some Crazy Quilt blocks or maybe I'll find a pattern to applique something....since I don't piece any more....long story there....Head over to Cynthia's Quilting is More Fun Than Housework, she is working on scraps too.....
Hope everyone has an AWESOME stitching......
Cute quilt. I have never put binding on by hand myself. Have fun stitching!
ReplyDeleteYou don't piece anymore? I hope I don't ever get to that point in my quilt making! I guess if I enjoyed handwork, it wouldn't be an issue. Here's hoping you find an applique pattern that works with your Dark GREEN scraps for the RSC!
ReplyDeleteI like your 4th July quilt. How nice to discover you enjoy doing something by hand that you probably wouldn't have tried ordinarily
ReplyDeleteI've wondered how it would be to sew binding on by hand - even the first step that I usually do by machine - but I was afraid it would just be too many layers to go through. How's it going for you?
ReplyDeleteGreat job making due by hand stitching the binding! That 4th quilt is adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun quilt to work on! Our sewing machine repair shops here are open... just drop the machine off outside, they take it in and repair it and set it back on the porch for you to pick up... pay by credit card, so no contact with people and the machine gets fixed! So many people are dusting off their old machines to make masks, and find that it needs a little TLC before it will sew properly!
ReplyDeleteI've decided a back up machine is a must in the next few months. I'd go nuts if I didn't have one I could use. Happy piecing and hand stitching this week.
