I found this word in my book I'm reading....In Good Faith by Scott Pratt....since this is a book with a lawyer as the main character, I thought I would also add the legal definition.

Turpitude.....

She had a habit of committing crimes of moral Turpitude...
vile, shameful or base character's depravity....

Legal meaning...
an act or behavior that gravely violates the sentiment or accepted standard of the community


WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

BUSY TUESDAY........

I've got a lot to do today....so I'm hoping I get it all done....we'll see....First off it's To-Do-Tuesday, so I'll start there.

Last Tuesday my list to-do was this:

1. Finish the Easter Quilt (it's been in the hoop "forever")
2. Learn a new embroidery stitch (Buttonholed Cable Stitch) DONE
3.  Put the Spring Quilt in the hoop.

The Easter Quilt DID NOT get done.  Went to put the binding on and my sewing machine isn't working.......so it needs to go in the shop.  So I've been hand sewing the binding on, I've never done this before so wish me luck....picture next week.

I was so flustered after the sewing machine thing and didn't get the Spring quilt in the hoop.    The only thing from my list last week I got done is learn a new embroidery stitch....Buttonholed Cable Stitch....

 And the stitch over at Pintangle this week is Butterfly Chain....here's mine....

The new stitch I want to learn is Spanish Feather Stitch.

So my tasks for next week are.....

1. Finish the Easter Quilt
2. Put the Spring Quilt in the hoop
3. Learn the Spanish Feather Stitch

Between quilting and embroidery, I haven't had much time to read this week, but I'm reading In Good Faith by Scott Pratt on my Kindle Fire, since the library is closed.  This is a series of books and this is book 2 of 9....hoping to read the whole series.   Here is my teaser for Teaser Tuesday.

NATURE NOTES.....

The trees are getting leaves, the grass is really green and growing, some of my spring flowers are up.   And one lone Dandelion is growing in the crack of our back step.

 Dandelion is a plant with yellow flowers.Taraxacum officinale is the most common variety of this plant, and it grows in many parts of the world. Botanists consider dandelions to be herbs. People use the leaves, stem, flower, and root of the dandelion for medicinal purposes.

I took these photos last spring.....the life of a Dandelion....

Our back yard, back by the barn, looks like this...

And my grand kids have a wonderful time picking these and blowing....

SAL.......

I recently joined in on a SAL over at Avis's place.  I'm not a fast embroiderer when it comes to kits.  I was at Wal-Mart a few years ago buying yarn and started looking at the embroidery kits.  I came across this pillowcase set and really liked the pattern, so I bought it.  I also am joining Kathy over at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching, I think this could called slow stitching...lol

It took me 6 months to do the first one.  It has been waiting for the second one to get done for so long it's yellowed some....hoping that comes out in the wash.

 But the second one has gone unfinished for a few years and I really want to get this done.  So I joined this SAL to get inspiration to finish this.

I've started on the lower left corner of the ribbon....but after looking at the chart, I've already messed it up....so have to pull some of the stitches out.  Hoping to have time to have more progress at the next SAL update.  Below are all the folks joining in this SAL....hop over and see what everyone is working on.

SATURDAY....Scrap Happy

I've been working on my 8 1/2" crazy quilt blocks.  I have a box full of scraps I'm working out of.   Actually went to 2 boxes now.  I keep accumulating scraps...ha ha....

Last night I put together a blue block.  It's 8 1/2" and it's on unbleached muslin or bleached, which ever I have handy at the time.

I'm not really sure about the orange, but according to my color wheel, blue and orange go together.  I'll have fun embellishing this block.  I already have some ideas of what to put on it.  I've also finished the block I was working on last time.

I had some green mesh....for lack of what's it's really called....over the blue, did some feather stitches and added some beads and charms.  I really like how this one turned out.

I'm thankful my son bought me a Kindle Fire for Christmas. So I am  learning to read books on my Kindle Fire....Our library has closed due to the virus.  So I've been reading books this way.  I'm slowly adjusting to not having an actual book in my hands.  The book I just finished and it was really good....See my review here.....

QUILTS AND EMBROIDERY.......

Today is Tuesday....it's a busy day for me.  I've collected all the things I want to do for the next week.  And hopefully I'll get them done.

To Do Tuesday

1. Finish the Easter Quilt (it's been in the hoop "forever")
2. Learn a new embroidery stitch (Buttonholed Cable Stitch)
3.  Put the Spring Quilt in the hoop.

I've also been doing the stitches for TAST (Take A Stitch Tuesday) over at Sharon's place, Pintangle.  She has a tutorial every Tuesday for an embroidery stitch.  This Tuesday the stitch is Cable Chain.

Since my library is closed due to the Coronia Virus.....I've had to start using my Kindle Fire to read books.  I can say I don't really like reading a book this way....but I'm adjusting.  So I went looking for books and found this series by Scott Pratt.  I really enjoyed reading this book.  Just my kind of book.  A murder mystery!  The book is about Joe Dillard, a defense attorney, who is looking for an innocent client to defend.  But he keeps getting guilty people and he wants out of the business.
His new client, Angel, looks and talks like she's innocent, but is she?  That's what the whole book is about.  Trying to get to the bottom of this case and figure out if Angel is really innocent. *****

SCRAP HAPPY....BLUE

I've been gathering up my 8 1/2" crazy quilt blocks, got them all stacked and ready to sew together.  Thought I'd share a few blue ones with you....

One of my favorites...

Another favorite, not too much blue, but there is a blue flower at the center of the block.......

And a blue motif for this one.

I like the way this one came out....that's a black leaf....but it looks like a balloon.....

IS IT SPRING YET......

It's been close to spring.  Last week it was in the 50's and 60's.  Today it turned cold again.  It's currently 39 with a wind chill of 31.  So is Spring here or not?

I tend to think it is...my Daffodils and Grape Hyacinth's are blooming.  So I'm saying Spring is here, kind of...

Daffodils are part of the  Narcissus family.   Nardissus has conspicuous flowers with six petal-like tepals surmounted by a cup- or trumpet-shaped corona. The flowers are generally white or yellow (also orange or pink in garden varieties), with either uniform or contrasting coloured tepals and corona. The species are native to meadows and woods in southern Europe and North Africa.  Narcissi tend to be long-lived bulbs, which propagate by division, but are also insect-pollinated .(Wikipedia)

Muscari is a genus of perennial bulbous plants native to Eurasia that produce spikes of dense, most commonly blue, urn-shaped flowers resembling bunches of grapes in the spring. The common name for the genus is grape hyacinth but they should not be confused with hyacinths. In the United States, they are also commonly referred to as bluebells. (Wikipedia)

THURSDAY THINGS........

 I've been working on my Crazy Quilt...it's 8 1/2" on bleached muslin.  Trying to get the colors to NOT clash is really hard.  So went looking for a color wheel on line.  Their are lots to choose from, but this is my favorite.

This one I just finished...

The first time I used a curve on my blocks...I really like how it turned out.

I've also been working on my leaf quilt....they are leaves of Indiana.

Not Afraid of Color

IT'S WEDNESDAY.....

I have been looking for a Wednesday Meme, but can't find any.  So I decided to make my own.  I'll be posting family, pets and other goings on around my place.

Our dog, Bob, was an orphan, we found him wondering the main street of our city.  So we brought him home, fed and watered him, and posted pictures of him on Facebook.  No one claimed him, so he has been with us for 3 years. 

This is Bob snoozing at his favorite place....in front of the stove. 

Bob went to the vet to get checked out when we got him.  The vet said he was a Labrador/Mastiff mix and he was around 1 1/2 years old. 

This is Bob's friend, Toby.

Toby is a miniature dachshund. Although he doesn't look miniature, he's a little on the chubby side.  He loves to eat and he's not picky about what he eats.  He will any kind of fruit or veggie.  He doesn't eat dog food very often, but he loves people food of all kind.

ZOE'S QUILT.....

I've been working on my Niece's quilt.  She wanted a Stitch(Lilo & Stitch) quilt.  Wasn't quite sure about this quilt when I started it.  What to put with the Stitch blocks....

Zoe is always on her cell phone...so I decided to do a Cell Phone block.  I put talk bubbles on the phone and used slang phrases from the 1960's.  I told Zoe this was a history lesson in the making.  She has to search the web for 60' slang words to find out what they mean.

I got the final row on and put the border around the quilt.

Now all it needs is put together and tied.  Hoping to get that done sometime in the next week.

I'll be adding a few more blocks to my Indiana Leaf Quilt this week......

These 4 people all meet by chance while hiking on the mountain.  But they soon become disoriented and get lost.  They must all work together to stay alive.  Really awesome book! *****

This book is a Junior Fiction at my library.  It is also a fantasy book.  But it's really a good book.....I enjoyed reading this book very much. *****

Ouabache - David A. Lottes

Synopsis
 Ouabache is the old French spelling of Wabash, the Algonquin word waapaahšiiki, the name the Miami Indians gave to the river that runs through Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. This is a novel about life in the valley during the French Colonial period. It has been over three centuries since the first of these French-speaking adventurers paddled their canoes down the Wabash River and the details of their everyday lives are still largely a mystery. The novel I have written is based on a mix of facts and folklore. I hope it will entertain readers and inspire them to learn more about the Wabash Valley.

This is my book clubs choice for March.  Since I live in Indian, I thought this book could give me a bit of a history lesson.  And it did!  The names of Native Americans that living around the Wabash River at the time.  One of which was the Miami's.  My grandmother was of the Miami tribe.  This story follows the French and English that were trying to settle this area at the time.  The Forts that were there and the men and women who where solders and settlers.  Really good book. *****
